Lemonade For Sale

This week, the students' reading selection was called Lemonade for Sale. In this math-based story, members of the Elm Street Kids' Club need money to fix up their clubhouse, so they decide to sell lemonade and monitor their success by tracking daily sale.  With help from my students' parents, the class was given the opportunity to experience what it is like to make their own lemonade.  Check out their efforts by viewing the scrapbook below. (When viewing the scrapbook, be sure to click on each picture to see if anything happens.)

Honor Students Recognized

During the first nine week of instruction, each of my students worked really hard to master the second grade skills that I taught.  I want to congratulate each of them on a job well done.  I want to especially acknowledge the students who managed to come to school each day during the first grading period.  The students who earned PERFECT ATTENDANCE  were:
  • Christian, Queydarius, Ja'lon, Evan
  • Marvin, Tiana, D'amari, Ra'darius, Amarrious,

The boys and girls in my class put forth a lot of effort. They did their best and their hard work paid off.  Congratulations!  Students who earned HONOR ROLL status include:
  • Keimarriyon, Christian, Queydarius, Tyrin,
  • Marvin, Ja'kayla, Ra'darius, Adam

These students' work was outstanding! They earned status as PRINCIPAL'S SCHOLARS, and I know that Mr. Harvey is proud of each of them. Way to go, students!  The Principal's Scholars are:
  • Amarrious
  • Tiana
  • James
  • Evan

These students made straight A's for the first nine weeks and are recognized as SUPERINTENDENT'S SCHOLARS.  They did an outstanding job, and I am sure Dr. Kilcrease is just as proud as I am of these students:
  • Ja'lon
  • Brandon
  • Destinee
  • D'amari

Thank you, parents, for the hard-work and time you spend working with your children to ensure their continued success.

Parent Teacher Conference

Thank you parents for coming out to  the Parent-Teacher Conferences for the first nine weeks to check on your child's progress.  I enjoyed seeing many of you again and meeting some of you for the first time.  Please come back again soon to visit the class or to volunteer to help out.  You are always welcome in our classroom!

Hedgehog Bakes a Cake

This week the students have been reading a story called, "Hedgehog Bakes a Cake."  So, in celebration of the students' hard work during the first nine weeks grading period, Mrs. Cassandra Wells baked a pumpkin-shaped cake for the class.  Mrs. Wells and Mrs. Warren served cake, ice cream and punch to the students and quizzed them about the story elements.  The students shared their knowledge of the story's vocabulary and events with them and had an excellent time demonstrating what they had learned during the week.
